Global Warming and lowering of CO2
Deal with environmental -and ecological- issues affecting the world,
Bring back the middle class, and bring back wealth equality (CEO making not more than -at most- 100 times the average salary of their employees.
Work on keeping Church and State separate.
Treat Immigrants with Dignity. Path to legalization and citizenship.
Promote for more Scientists in Congress.
Promote technology and modern infrastructure (Shinkansen or MagLev bullet trains).

Reason for Seeking Public Office:

1* My major concern is THE ENVIRONMENT (CO2 at 400 ppm and rising at 4 ppm/year; sea-level rise at almost 4mm/year), if nothing is done to palliate global warming it will continue unrelenting until that time when nothing much can be done about it.

The picture is getting more ugly by the day, because the oceans -along millennia- have absorbed great amounts of CO2, but when the water warms-up instead of dissolving more CO2 it would instead release it (like it happens to a can of Coke).

Furthermore, as the permafrost thaws in Siberia and Canada due to the warmer climate, huge amounts of CO2 are further released to the atmosphere. This is not reversible.

2* Secondly, the need to act on the ecological disaster going on in our INDIAN RIVER LAGOON (with the discharges of water from Lake Okeechobee). It is imperative we win the battle to BUY THE LAND south of the lake.

3* I am a scientist, and WE ONLY HAVE 11 SCIENTISTS IN THE US CONGRESS. We have there plenty of lawyers, yet in the XXI century what we need is more scientists. Even the Chair of the Environmental Commission ?Sen. Jim Inhofe- insists that global warming is a hoax. Appalling!

4* Furthermore, for decades I have been a SOCIAL DEMOCRAT, and as such I ran in 2002 (CD-22). When I learned that the Congressional seat was vacant (CD-18) and that Sen. Bernie Sanders was contemplating to run for President, I decided to run as well, and press for a "leap forward in social issues".
** I am one of only 3 candidates to the US Congress in Florida who are ?Berniecrats? or Bernie Democrats (Alina Valdes [FL25], Tim Canova [FL23], and myself [FL18]).
