Howard Zinn and William Crum, they inspired me as a working class individual to run for office. We need more voices for blue collar workers, public education, expanded medicare for all, the right to form unions and standing up against oppression.
Fully fund public education in AZ. The voters have mandated this but the current and past legislatures have been cutting funds to public education for decades. /Children our one of our most precious resources. We need to see them as such and affirm their potential with more state revenue to public education. Our state constitution reads that higher education should be nearly free. Cut the cost of college tuition. Our graduates are burdened with huge student loans that have bolstered big banks. Forgive student loans. We forgave wall street we now need to represent people and protect their ability to thrive to have a positive impact on our economy and communities. Prison reform. Move away from private prisons. Reduce illegal drug possession to a misdemeanor instead of a felony. This would reduce the amount of inmates by about 75% and could save the state millions of dollars that could be directed to public education. Electoral reform. Get corporate money out of politics. Promote proportional representation. Do away with the electoral college. No tax breaks to corporations. The only business that should be given tax breaks are the ones that take stewardship of our water, air, soil and worker's wages and benefits.
Reason for Seeking Public Office:
To let voters know there is another option, the Green Party, other than the two big parties that are influenced by corporate money and represent them well. The voter is no longer represented. The Green Party takes no corporate or union donations. No super pac money, only donations from individuals. Proportional representation is better democracy. Third parties should have a seat at the table. Two parties cannot represent all of the people. Elections and voting methods need to change to promote full democracy.
