Reason for Seeking Public Office:
Why I'm Running for Congress
Local values and real life experience are the qualities our country's founders expected in Members ofCongress. They wanted representatives who would uphold the ideals of the people who electedthem. The people expected their leaders to serve with focus and commitment. Today we have toomany professional politicians who are more interested in playing politics than they are in addressingthe challenges that face our country.
The result: cuts to education, millions of citizens without health care, high unemployment, failinginfrastructure and a sluggish economy. Wall Street is still receiving record bonuses while averagefamilies can't make ends meet. Veterans have to fight for benefits they've earned by their service andpoliticians play games with our seniors' Medicare and Social Security benefits.
I'm running for Congress because the only way to begin fixing our problems is to stop sendingprofessional politicians to Washington, D.C. We need to start sending real people; people whounderstand the realities of raising a family on a budget and caring for aging parents; people who havecreated jobs and want to help other small businesses do the same.
Congress is broken and Utah's First District Representative is part of the problem. We deserve better. We must demand a representative who cares about doing the right thing, even when it's hard. That'show we become better. And we can do better.
Congress isn't about playing political games. Congress is about growing our economy. It's about givingeveryone a chance for a good paying job. It's about making sure that our children are educated, thatour sick receive care and that everyone who is willing to work hard, regardless of where they wereborn, receives a chance to achieve the American dream.
I am not a professional politician. I will fight for all of Utah with passion and conviction. I will helplead Utah into the future, while respecting her past.
As your representative, I will give you an open ear and mind, and I will do my very best each and everyday. That's what a public servant is meant to do. No one can do it alone, so I need your help as well.We all need to come together as citizens to get the job done.
Won't you join me?
