Reason for Seeking Public Office:

After serving three terms in the New Hampshire House I have decided to run for the New Hampshire Senate from District #23, the towns of Brentwood, Chester, Danville, East Kingston Epping, Exeter, Fremont, Kingston, and Sandown. District #23 is a tough district for a Democrat. After the 2010 election, under Republican leadership, the map was redrawn to ensure that it would always heavily favor Republican candidates.
For this reason, it is important that a strong Democrat run for this seat; a democrat with a proven record of leadership in public office, and someone who has worked closely and well with colleagues of all political persuasions. I have a history of respect and of success in the House. In each of my three terms, I have crafted legislation that has been passed into law, and I have been a leader in shepherding through many bills important to the people of NH. These have including toughening New Hampshire's anti-bully law, rewriting the auto dealers bill of rights to protect community-based businesses, strengthening protections for people with disabilities who use service animals, increasing consumer protections for prepay heating fuel customers, updating and expanding our corporation laws, providing insurance coverage for children with autism, establishing community drug take-back programs, outlawing PayDay Loans and fighting against usury interests on Car Title Loans.
Representing my community and working for the common good of all New Hampshire citizens has been an honor and a high point in my life. It is very consuming work that requires a high level of dedication and focus. I believe I bring this to the job. I hope you will tell your friends in Senate District #23 towns that there is a hard-working, consensus-building Democratic candidate on the ballot Nov. 4th for State Senate.
