Colorado families watch their bottom lines and live within their means every day. We deserve a state government, and a State Treasurer, determined to do the same. As a small business owner, I've managed the finances and investments of two successful businesses. As a public servant, I've worked at the state, local and federal level on issues from budget reform to fiscal responsibility. A smarter, more efficient, more innovative State Treasury will mean a stronger, more prosperous, more confident Colorado economy.
I grew-up the sixth of seven children in a close-knit family. My father dropped out of high school to support his mother and sisters, so he made sure that his children received a good education. We all worked our way through college. My mother insisted that young women needed to go the extra mile, and my three sisters and I now hold advanced degrees -- in finance, tax law, accounting and math.
I have served in the public and private sectors, starting out as a Budget Analyst with the U.S. Department of the Treasury. I have grown two successful businesses. I understand the challenges of investing wisely, meeting a payroll and your monthly obligations, and remaining profitable. Through lots of hard work, patience, discipline and prudent management, my businesses were successful. It is these values and experiences that I bring to the Treasurer's office.
