It's the people

Departing CrewWhen I first started writing this post, I planned on talking about things like the range of interesting tasks I got to work on as a Media Department intern and the beautiful places I was able to visit while living in Montana. I planned on describing how exciting it felt to do live interviews with radio stations across the country as part of the Congressional Snapshots program. I planned on detailing the awe-inspiring views at Glacier National Park and the picturesque mountain landscape available right from my porch. But once I got to thinking about it, I realized that I Was leaving out what I valued most from my internship at Project Vote Smart: the people I was able to meet here.

I learned a lot from my ten weeks at PVS, but the lesson I'm most likely to remember is the power people have to enhance even the most basic experiences. I've had many unforgettable discussions with people here that gave me a new perspective on what drives people to seek change in their government, and I'll leave with a restored faith in the potential for change to occur. Regardless of where you go or what you do with your life, it's the people you meet that make it worthwhile.

I know I speak for Brendan, Jes, Courtney, Helen, and Parker when I say that I'll always look back on this summer and know that I made a difference. Keep up the good work PVS.
