Person Most Want to Meet (Dead or Alive):
Benjamin Franklin
Personal Hero and Why:
Benjamin Franklin - This man was incredible and timeless. A statesman, author, inventor, scientist, journalist. Everyday our lives are still touched by his innovative thinking. Things like bi-focal glasses, fire departments, mail, libraries, electricity and more.
Priority Issues:
Increasing the Homestead Exemption for Seniors; Reform Legislation that Puts Children First in Child Custody Cases; Totally Eliminate the Food Tax; Eliminate the Business Franchise Tax; Reduce the Corporate Net to the Competitive Rate of 6.5%; Eliminate the Personal Property Tax on Manufacturing Equipment; Eliminate Prevailing Wage; Locality Pay for Teachers & State Employees.
Reason for Seeking Public Office:
In 2002, my decision to pursue this office was to provide my neighbors and the voters of the 52nd district with effective and responsible leadership and to fix the out of control, $4 billion dollar in debt Workers Comp system. I believe that I have done just that. I have brought an air of common sense, trustworthiness and understanding to the office. I have provided accessible leadership via the phone, internet, postal and town hall meetings to all residents including those who live outside the district. I consider myself a new breed of public official that works for the people and not for oneself. I believe that it is important to work with all of the Eastern Panhandle delegates, both republican and democrat, and to market our unique needs and ideas to the legislature with a businesslike approach, while trying to put an end to the tax and spend mentality. My goal has been to represent the majority of my constituency and do their will. In fact, I only have one special interest group and that is the person who goes to work, pays their bills, pays their taxes and raises their family. Too often this majority has been forgotten.
