Title: Video Gambling in Various Establishments

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to pass a bill that allows video gaming at licensed establishments and raises taxes on certain products.

Highlights:
-Creates a pilot program to test lottery ticket sales over the Internet (Sec. 7). -Increases tax on alcoholic beverages that contain between .5% and 7% alcohol by 56 cents per gallon (Sec. 8). -Increases tax on candy, certain soft drink beverages, and grooming and hygiene products from 1% to 6.25% (Sec. 9). -Allows licensed establishments, including retail establishments where alcohol is served, fraternal establishments, veteran's establishments, and truck stops, to maintain video gaming terminals without charges of gambling (Sec. 28). -Requires that taxes collected from video gaming terminals be deposited in the Capital Projects Fund and Local Government Video Gaming Distributive Fund (Sec. 60).
