Title: Requiring Completion of Reinforced Border Fencing
Vote to adopt an amendment to S Amdt 1373 to HR 2892 that requires the 700 miles of reinforced fencing along the Mexico border, authorized under existing law, be completed by no later than December 31, 2010.
- Deems vehicle barriers, motion sensitive cameras and other forms of "virtual fencing" ineffective, and therefore do not meet the requirement of being a pedestrian barricade (Sec. 560).
- Requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to report the department's plans and progress toward timely completion of the fence to Congress, by no later than September 30, 2009 (Sec. 560).
