Title: Prohibition on Field Burning in Certain Areas

Vote to pass a bill that eliminates field burning in part of the Willamette Valley with some exceptions.

Highlights:
-Applies to Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas, Marion, Polk, Yamhill, Linn, Benton and Lane Counties (Sec. 1) -Limits maximum total registered acreage allowed to be open burned per year to 20,000 acres in 2009 and 0 in 2010 and after (Sec. 6). -Limits maximum total registered acreage allowed to be stack or pile burned per year to 1,000 acres through 2012 and 0 in 2013 and after (Sec. 6). -Limits maximum total registered acreage allowed to be propane flamed per year to 500 acres through 2012 and 0 in 2013 and after (Sec. 6). -Provides an exception for steep terrain and species identified by the Director of Agriculture by rule and allows 15,000 acres in certain areas to be burned under this provision (Sec. 6). -Allows the commission to permit an additional 2,000 acres of emergency burning each year as needed to address the emergency (Sec. 6). -Doubles the fees to obtain permits for burning (Sec. 9)
