Vote to pass a bill that would give preference in designating renaissance zones to specific businesses who worked to increase the employment of Michigan residents.

Highlights:

-Requires preference to be given to applicants for designated "renaissance zones" if they agree to hire only Michigan residents and contract with businesses who hire only Michigan residents when possible (Sec. 8). -Requires that any business who wishes to claim the exemption, deduction, or credit stemming from the renaissance zone must sign a written agreement to not hire anyone who isn't authorized by federal law to work in the United States (Sec.8). -Mandates that violations of the provisions of this act may prevent future exemptions, deductions, or credits, and may require the business to repay past tax benefits (Sec.8).
