Title: Alcohol Tax Increase

Vote to pass a bill that increases taxes on alcoholic beverages.

Highlights:

-Renders the tax payable on alcohol products to be as follows: for each barrel of beer, $11.46; for each gallon of cider, $0.38; for each gallon of wine, $1.72; for each gallon of spirits containing 25 percent or less of ethyl alcohol by volume, $3.00; and for each gallon of spirits containing more than 25 percent ethyl alcohol by volume, $4.50 (Sec. 1). -Renders the tax payable on each gallon of alcohol per gallon of ethyl alcohol contained as $7.28, excluding the purchase of alcohol by pharmacists, physicians, dentists, veterinarians, wholesale druggists, or certain other purchases in which the alcohol is not intended as a beverage (Sec. 1). -States that this act applies to all alcoholic liquor purchased and received from any manufacture or importer, as well as all alcoholic liquor floor stock or inventories resting in the State, on or after September 1, 2009 (Sec. 2).
