Vote to pass a bill that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation in housing, employment, public works contracting, public accommodations, and insurance.
Highlights:
-Defines 'sexual orientation' as heterosexuality, homosexuality, or bisexuality (Sec. 2).
-Excludes from the provisions of this act religious corporations, associations or societies, whether supported by or independent of government appropriations, except when the duties of employment pertain only to activities generating unrelated business taxable income (Sec. 16).
-Specifies that employers will not be required to offer health, welfare, pension or other benefits to partners of their employees on an equal basis to those offered to employees' spouses (Sec. 19).
-Establishes the Superior Court as having jurisdiction over criminal violations concerning such discrimination (Secs. 27, 28).
