Title: School Voucher Program Expansion
Vote to concur with a Senate bill that increases the cap on the number of students in Milwaukee Parental Choice Program, a private school voucher program, from 15,000 students to 22,500 students. The bill also allows students and siblings of students who are already enrolled in the program and whose family income is up to 2.2 times of the federal poverty level to continue in the program. The bill also requires that participating private schools be accredited and participate in national standardized exams. Additionally, the bill increases from $2,000 to $2,250, the amount paid under the Student Achievement Guarantee in Education Program (SAGE) for each low-income pupil.
