Vote Smart's Synopsis:

A vote to adopt a bill that realigns school board elections to coincide with the general election, and redefines term lengths so as to align each term with a general election.

Highlights:

-Changes the requirements for school board members to include an age requirement of 18 at the time of the election, as well as residency in the state and school district from which one is appointed or elected (Sec. 2). -Establishes that two school board members will be elected during the general election in 2014 and two other members will be elected every two years after that (Sec. 3). -Provides term lengths for each elected school board official depending upon which year he or she was first elected, so that each re-election will line up with a general election.
