Title: Electronics Sale and Disposal Regulations
Vote to pass a bill that establishes regulations on the sale and disposal of electronic devices.
- -Peripherals, such as a keyboard or other device sold exclusively for external use with a computer;
-Facsimile machines;
-Digital video players;
-Video recorders;
-Consumer video display devices;
-Consumer computers;
-Telephones with video display; and
-Additional electronic devices determined by the Department of Natural Resources to be harmful to human health or the environment if burned or disposed of in such a manner.
- -Manufacturers must affix a permanent label on the covered device that is "readily visible" and displays the manufacturer's brand;
-Manufacturers must register with the Department of Natural Resources;
-Manufacturer must report information about the weight of the covered devices it sells;
-Manufacturer must pay a registration fee of $5,000 if it sold at least 250 covered devices in the state during the previous year, $1,250 if it sold at least 25 but fewer than 250 covered electronic in the state during the previous year, or no fee if it sold less than 25 covered devices during the previous year; and
-Manufacturers must arrange for the recycling of eligible electronic devices used by households or schools in the state.
