Title: Graduate School Tuition Increase
Vote Smart's Synopsis:
Vote to pass a bill that allows different boards of supervisors at public institutions of higher education to impose tuition increases for a variety of graduate school programs.
-Authorizes the Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College to increase tuition by up to $30 per credit hour per semester for any institution under their management and supervision (Sec.1).
-Authorizes the increase of $1,000 per semester for Masters of Business Administration students (Sec.1).
-Authorizes the increase of $750 per semester for students seeking a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (Sec.1).
-Allows the board to establish criteria for waiving the proposed increases for students with financial hardship (Sec.1).
NOTE: THIS LEGISLATION NEEDED A TWO-THIRDS MAJORITY VOTE TO PASS
