Title: Amending Labor Laws for Farm Workers

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

A vote to pass a bill that gives more rights to farmworkers, including 24 hours of rest per week, overtime pay, and workers' compensation benefits.

Highlights:
-Requires farm laborers receive at least twenty-four consecutive hours of rest every week (Sec. 3). -Prohibits requiring employees to work more than eight hours a day. If overtime work is performed, a farm laborer must be paid time-and-a-half for every hour of overtime (Sec. 7). -Establishes that farm laborers are entitled to receive workers' compensation, and requires employees to report on-the-job injuries (Sec. 11, 13). -Requires that signs regarding compensation be posted in both English and Spanish (Sec. 12).
