Title: Extending Whistle-Blower Protection to UC Employees

Vote to pass a bill providing University of California employees with the same whistle-blower protections as other state employees.

Highlights:
-Allows University of California employees to take legal actions for damages due to intentional acts of reprisal, retaliation, threats, or coercion, as long as the complaint has first been filed with the university and they either reach a decision or fail to reach a decision within the established time limit (Sec. 1). -Punishes persons responsible for the intentional reprisal, retaliation, threats, coercion, or similar acts against a UC employee or applicant for employment with a fine not to exceed $10,000 and imprisonment for up to one year (Sec. 1).
