Title: Establishing the K-12 Public Education Stabilization Account

Vote to override a veto of a bill that establishes a fund for education which retains money earmarked for education and collects funds for general education purposes.

Highlights:

-Establishes the K-12 Public Education Stabilization Account, which will receive 50 percent of unspent money from the State Distributive School Account (Sec. 3). -Requires that if a shortfall exists in the State Distributive School Account, an allocation must be made from the K-12 Public Education Stabilization Account to cover the shortfall as much as possible, given the funds in that account (Sec. 4). -Prohibits the Commission on Economic Development from granting certain businesses partial abatements of local school support taxes (Secs. 8-10, 13, 16-18, 26, 28, 29 and 31-33). -Diverts funds to education from property taxes that normally go into redevelopment funds (Sec. 19).
