Vote to adopt an amendment to HB 67 that would ban the use of hand-held cell phones while driving in the Commonwealth.

Highlights:

-Bans the use of interactive wireless communications devices except for hands-free interactive wireless communications devices (Sec. a). -Mandates that no driver use a wireless communications device to send, read, or write a text message (Sec. a). -Grants exceptions to persons who use an interactive wireless communications device to contact a 511 service or a 911 system to report an accident or emergency, and operators of emergency vehicles and public passenger transportation while engaged in the performance of official duties (Sec. b). -Requires a $50 fine for drivers caught driving with a hand-held wireless communications device as part of a summary offense (Sec. b).
