Title: Changes in High School Graduation Standards

Vote to pass a bill that changes the educational policy in the states by increasing the math and science requirements and the score needed on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) to receive a high school diploma.

Highlights:
-Mandates schools to advise students about the availability of Advanced Placement courses, International Baccalaureate courses, dual enrollment classes, and course offerings through the Florida Virtual School (Sec. 1). -Adds Geometry, Algebra I (Algebra II in the 2012-2013 school year), Biology I, Chemistry or Physics, and one higher-level science as a requirement towards graduation for high school students (Sec. 1). -Requires schools to provide proper instruction for students with disabilities to demonstrate proficiency (Sec. 2). -Raises the passing Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) score to meet minimum grade-level proficiency (Sec. 7).
