Vote to pass a bill that creates a model program for schools to handle instances of harassment, bullying, intimidation and violence. Requires school boards to adopt a written policy prohibiting harassment, bullying, intimidation and violence based on certain factors.

Highlights:

-Provides for the Commissioner to provide a model policy regarding harassment, bullying, intimidation or violence and may include programs focused on violence prevention and character development. (Sec. 1) -New policies must include, but are not limited to, prohibition of harassment, bullying, intimidation and violence based on sexual orientation and gender identity. (Sec. 1) -Aspects of policies regarding hazing must apply to student behaviors during and after school hours and on and off school property. (Sec. 1)
