Vote to pass a bill that allows people who are unable to pay fees for violation of a traffic offense, to retain their license and establish a payment plan.

Highlights:

-Prohibits courts from suspending the defendants operating privilege without first providing the defendant with an opportunity to pay the judgment in installments subsequent to the defendant notifying the court he or she is unable to pay the judgment because of poverty (Sec. 2). -Allows court to reinstate the suspension of the defendants operating privilege upon failure to pay installments (Sec. 5). -Orders courts to take the defendant’s income into account when determining an appropriate payment plan (Sec. 8).
