Vote to pass a bill that makes not wearing a seat belt while an automobile is in motion an offense for which law enforcement officers can stop drivers, even in the absence of another violation.
Highlights:
-Specifies that prior to June 30, 2009 law enforcement officers shall issue a warning citation for a seat belt violation and that beginning on June 30, 2009 a fine of $25 will be imposed for such a violation (Sec. 2).
