Title: Gender Requirements for Certain Local Government Positions

Vote to pass a bill that mandates that no more than one half of the members of an appointive board, commission, committee or council of a political subdivision (or one half plus one members, in the case of entities with an odd number of members) shall be made up of one gender.
Highlights:
-Exempts positions for which political subdivisions have made a "good faith" effort to comply with the gender requirement but have been unable to make a compliant appointment for a period of three months (Sec. 1). -Exempts positions for which individuals are being reappointed prior to January 1, 2012, even if such reappointment would perpetuate an inequity in gender balance (Sec. 1).
