Vote to pass a bill that restricts health care coverage eligibility for retired state employees to those who are not eligible for Medicare beginning January 1, 2010.
-Requires the state pay $155 per month to retired state employees until they are eligible for Medicare beginning July 1, 2009 (Sec. 2). -Specifies that dependent spouses of state employees who are not eligible for Medicare will continue to be covered until they are eligible for Medicare (Sec. 2). -Requires state employees who begin service or employment after June 30, 2009 to have accrued 20,800 hours of state service before June 30, 2009, and after reemployment, election, or reappointment to have accrued 6,240 hours of state service on or after July 1, 2009 to be eligible for personnel health care service coverage (Sec. 2). -Requires the Department of Administration to assist retirees that are eligible for Medicare in transitioning to a Medicare supplement plan (Sec. 2).
