Title: Limiting Local Regulations of Homeless Shelters
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes churches to establish temporary indoor or outdoor encampments for the homeless on their property, and limits local governments' ability to regulate churches' ability to provide housing and shelter for the homeless.
- -"Unreasonably" interferes with the decisions or actions of a church with respect to providing housing or shelter for the homeless;
-"Unreasonably" prohibits or attempts to regulate the housing of the homeless based upon a church's proximity to a school or day care center; or
-Requires a church to obtain liability insurance to provide housing or shelter for the homeless.
NOTE: AFTER PASSING THE CHAMBER OF ORIGIN, THE OPPOSING CHAMBER, BY RESOLUTION, RETURNED THE LEGISLATION TO THE CHAMBER OF ORIGIN, WHICH AGAIN VOTED ON PASSAGE OF THE LEGISLATION. ALTHOUGH, ADDITIONAL AMENDMENTS MAY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED SINCE THE FIRST PASSAGE VOTE.
