Title: Gasoline Tax Increase

Vote to pass a bill that increases gasoline taxes by $0.15 per gallon over a period of three years and increases diesel fuel taxes by $0.15 per gallon over a six year period, the proceeds of which shall be used for the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges.

Highlights:

-Increases the gasoline tax from $0.18 per gallon to $0.23 per gallon beginning July 1, 2009, $0.28 per gallon beginning April 1, 2010, and $0.33 per gallon beginning April 1, 2011 (Sec. 2). -Increases the diesel fuel tax from $0.18 per gallon to $0.23 per gallon beginning July 1, 2009, $0.28 per gallon beginning July 1, 2011, and $0.33 per gallon beginning July 2013 (Sec. 2). -Allocates $0.04 of each $0.05 increase to the New Hampshire Road and Bridge Account, and $0.01 of each increase to the Highway and Bridge Betterment Account (Sec. 2). -Establishes a commission to study future sustainable revenue sources for funding improvements to state and municipal highways and bridges, and is required to report its findings and recommendations for proposed legislation to the Speaker of the House, the President of the Senate, the Governor, and the State library on or before November 1, 2010 (Secs. 7-11).
