Title: Transfer of Authority Over State's Public Defender System

Vote to pass a bill that restructures the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council and transfer power and duties to the newly created Georgia Public Defender Agency under the director of that agency.

-Repeals the The Georgia Public Defender Standards Council's status as an "independent agency" and instead makes it an "advisory body" within the executive branch (Sec.1). -Requires the Council to be reconstituted with new members to be appointed no later than 60 days after the effective date of this subsection of this Act (Sec. 1). -Repeals the Council's power to approve and implement programs, services, rules, policies, procedures, regulations, and standards related to public defense and instead allows the council to provide related recommendations (Sec. 1).
