Title: Health Insurance Coverage for Prosthetics

Vote to pass a bill that requires insurers to provide health care benefit coverage for medically-necessary prosthetic devices prescribed by a licensed physician.

Highlights:

-Specifies that the coverage for prosthetic devices must at a minimum equal the coverage and payment provided for such devices under the most recent relevant federal laws (Sec. 1). -Specifies that the provisions of this bill apply to the following types of policies, contracts, or plans beginning July 1, 2009 (Sec. 1):

    -accident and sickness insurance providing coverage on an expenses-incurred basis; -specified hospital or medical service contracts; -specified health maintenance organization contracts; -organized delivery systems licensed by the director of public health; and -specified public employee plans.
-Specifies that the provisions of this bill do not apply to the following types of coverage (Sec. 1):
    -accident only; -specified disease; -short term hospital or medical; -hospital confinement indemnity; -credit; -dental; -vision; -Medicare supplement; -long-term care; -basic hospital and medical surgical expense; -disability income insurance; -supplemental coverage to liability insurance; -worker's compensation; and -automobile medical payment insurance.
