Title: Underage Tobacco Usage amendment
Vote Smart's Synopsis:
Vote to table an amendment that attempts to strengthen provisions requiring tobacco companies to meet targeted reductions in youth smoking.
Requires the Secretary to conduct annual performance surveys measuring use of cigarette and smokeless tobacco products among children ages 12 to 18.
Sets a 10 year child smoking reduction target at 67 percent.
Sets a maximum penalty of $2.2 billion for failure of tobacco companies to meet set reduction targets among children using their projects.
