Amendment - Motion Rejected (Senate) (50-49) - Oct. 5, 2005 (Key vote)
Title: Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program Amendment
Vote on a motion to waive the Budget Act in order to adopt an amendment that appropriates federal funds for the LIHEAP.
- Appropriates $3.1 billion in emergency funding to LIHEAP for unanticipated home energy assistance needs in one or more states.
- Funds LIHEAP, a federally-funded program that helps eligible low-income households meet their home heating and cooling needs.
NOTE: A MOTION TO WAIVE THE BUDGET ACT, IF ADOPTED, TEMPORARILY SETS ASIDE A SPECIFIC PROVISION OF THE BUDGET ACT OF 1974 SO THAT AN AMENDMENT THAT VIOLATES THE ACT MAY BE CONSIDERED. A 3/5 MAJORITY IS REQUIRED FOR ADOPTION.
