Title: Poverty Income Tax Cut

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to pass a bill that increases the income level at which persons and households can be exempt from paying the state income tax.

Highlights:
-Provides that individuals earning an annual income of $7,500 or less and married couples earning $15,000 or less (with an additional income allowance of $9,000 for each dependent) during taxable years ending after December 31, 2007 and before January 1, 2009 are exempt from paying the state income tax. -Provides that individuals earning an annual income of $8,000 or less and married couples earning $16,000 or less (with an additional income allowance of $9,750 for each dependent) during taxable years ending after December 31, 2008 and before January 1, 2010 are exempt from paying the state income tax. -Provides that individuals earning an annual income of $8,500 or less and married couples earning $17,000 or less (with an additional income allowance of $10,000 for each dependent) during taxable years ending after December 31, 2009 are exempt from paying the state income tax.
