Vote to pass a bill that modifies how the state assesses student educational achievement and modifies certain other education-related policies.

Highlights:
- Requires individuals to be enrolled in school through age 18, unless they have completed the requirements for graduation, beginning with the 2011-2012 school year (Article 2, Sec. 4). - Requires high school students to take at least one-half credit of physical education in order to graduate, with waivers of this requirement available for students who participate in an approved school athletic activity (Article 2, Sec. 8, Sec. 9, Sec. 11). - Requires the establishment of a model for the assessment of student educational achievement that compares a student's academic growth to the state norm and measures student performance according to the nine categories identified under the federal No Child Left Behind Act (Article 2, Sec. 15). - Requires school districts with disparities in academic achievement among groups of students defined by race, ethnicity, or income to develop and implement plans for eliminating such disparities, and establishes a task force to advise districts on the development and implementation of such plans (Article 2, Sec. 57 - Sec. 58). - Requires people enrolled in teacher preparation programs to receive instruction about Native Americans and their contributions to Minnesota, including instruction on the most effective methods for teaching elementary and secondary Native American students (Article 2, Sec. 24). - Allows a parent or guardian to designate an addition adult to attend school conferences and receive any relevant information regarding the student's records (Article 2, Sec. 2). - Names ice hockey as the official sport of Minnesota (Article 2, Sec. 1).
