Vote to pass a bill to include Rhode Island in an interstate agreement that would require their states' presidential electors to award their votes in the Electoral College to the winner of the national popular vote.
Highlights:
- Requires states possessing a majority of votes in the Electoral College to adopt this compact before the requirements of this policy go into effect (Sec. 1). - Notes that this policy will terminate if the Electoral College is abolished (Sec. 1). - Provides that in the event of a tie in the national popular vote, the state's presidential electors shall cast their votes for the presidential slate receiving the largest number of popular votes within the state (Sec. 1).
