Title: English as the Official Language

Highlights:

-Allows non-binding translations of official actions to be provided in languages other than English only if they are distributed at no cost to the state (Sec. 1). -Prohibits the liberty of speech provision of the Oklahoma Constitution to be construed to require the use of languages other than English (Sec. 1). -Allows the use of English for a variety of official actions including protecting the rights of criminal defendants, promoting trade or tourism, promoting relationships with Native American tribes or organizations, and complying with federal laws such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (Sec. 1). -Specifies that this act will not infringe upon the rights of any person who uses a language other than English in private (Sec. 1).
