Title: Water Conservation Program

Vote to pass a bill that establishes a State Facility Water Conservation Program that is administered by the Division of Water Resources to promote the conservation of water at state facilities, and provides funding for the program.

Highlights:

- Requires the division to develop voluntary guidelines and procedures to improve indoor and outdoor water conservation in the maintenance and management of state facilities [sec. 1 (3) (a) (i)]. - Requires the division to collaborate with the Division of Facilities Construction and Management to establish design and construction standards to improve indoor and outdoor water conservation for state facilities constructed or renovated to improve plumbing or landscaping after July 1, 2008 [sec. 1 (3) (a) (ii)]. - Requires the division to analyze the water use at state facilities, recommend water conservation measures, provide assistance in implementing those measures, and provide funds to implement the program [sec. 1 (3) (b-e)]. - Requires the division to annually submit a report to the Governor and the Capital Facilities and Administrative Services Appropriations Subcommittees on the status of the program beginning in 2009. The report must identify all projects or activities implemented as part of the program, and all future projects and activities the division intends to implement [sec. 1 (4)]. - Appropriates $500,000 from the general fund to the division to implement the program (Sec. 2).
