Vote to pass a bill that requests interested health care coverage providers to submit proposals for how health care coverage could be expanded to low-income residents of Colorado were the legislature to enact such a program.

Highlights:
-Requires the State Department and an appointed panel to request information from health care coverage providers and other interested parties regarding health care coverage plans for the uninsured, including expected changes in insurance rates if all residents of Colorado are required to obtain health care coverage (Sec. 1). -Requires health care coverage providers and other interested parties to provide estimated coverage plan costs based on the assumption that they would provide the lowest level of benefits that may be offered in the market and have all or a part of the premium of low income individuals or families paid by the state (Sec. 1). -Requires the State Department and panel to submit a report to the legislature regarding the potential cost of implementing a program as suggested in this bill, a summary of the information requested, and recommend to the assembly what legislation would be necessary (Sec 1). -Appropriates $128,700 from the general fund and $62,500 in cash funds from gifts and grants for this act (Sec. 2).
