Title: Township Annexation Requirements

Vote to pass a bill that adds additional requirements for the annexation of a territory to a city or village.
Highlights:
- Requires written notice from anyone intending petitioning for annexation [sec. 34 (6)].
- Permits the city or village and township to negotiate an agreement regarding tax revenues, future land or any other terms [sec 34 (7)].
- Permits a city, village, or township to file a petition for annexation if no agreement is reached within 45 days [sec. 34 (8)].
- Requires the petition for annexation to contain the signatures of at least 25 percent of registered voters in the affected territory in order to hold an election to authorize the annexation [sec. 37 (10)].
- Requires a majority vote to authorize the annexation [sec. 37 (12)].
