Title: Film and Television Production Rebate

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to pass a bill that allows eligible film and television productions to apply for tax rebates of up to $500,000 or 20 percent of the production's expenses.

Highlights:
- Requires that a minimum of $200,000 be spent on Idaho goods and services to be eligible for the rebate (Sec. 1). - Specifies that in order to be eligible for the rebate, from July 2008 to June 2010 at least 20 percent of the production's crew must be Idaho residents. From 2010 until 2014 the mandatory percentage of Idaho residents in the production crew for eligibility shall increase by 5 percent annually (Sec. 1). - Requires the Department of Commerce to submit to the legislature by 2014 a report evaluating the economic impact of the rebates and the effectiveness of the program (Sec. 1). - Terminates the provisions of this act after July 1, 2014 and transfers any unexpended funds to the general fund (Sec. 2).
