Vote to pass a bill that establishes the Governor's Energy Office, which assumes the duties of the Office of Energy Management and Conservation and promotes energy efficiency.

Highlights:

-Establishes the powers and duties of the Governor's Energy Office, including, but not limited to, the following (Sec. 1):

-Collaborate with communities, utilities, private and public organizations, and individuals to promote renewable energy, including wind, solar and geothermal; -Develop programs to promote high performance buildings; -Make the state government more energy efficient; -Promote technology transfer and economic development; -Distribute funds to the Renewable Energy Authority; -Implement the Wind for Schools Project; -Establish and manage a program to improve energy efficiency in public schools; -Provide energy efficiency improvements for low-income households; and -Organize a 16-member task force on renewable resource generation development areas

-Requires the director of the Governor's Energy Office to serve as the chairperson of the board of directors of the Colorado Clean Energy Development Authority (Sec. 1). -Authorizes the Governor's Energy Office to expend money from the Clean Energy Fund to assist in developing community college-level curricula on alternative and renewable energies to use in training for jobs in renewable energy, provided that funds are expended in a block grant for no more than five years (Sec. 7).
