Title: Restricting Childhood Vaccine Mercury Levels

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to pass a bill that limits the allowable levels of mercury in childhood vaccinations.

Highlights:
- Limits the level of mercury to no more than 0.5 micrograms per 0.5 milliliter dose for immunizations administered to children under three and knowingly pregnant women beginning January 1, 2009 [sec. 2 (A)]. - Limits the level of mercury no more than 0.625 micrograms per 0.25 milliliter dose for influenza immunizations administered to children under three and knowingly pregnant women beginning January 1, 2009 [sec. 2 (B)]. - Permits the State Commission of Health to exempt the use of vaccines from these requirements when an actual or potential health emergency exists that results in a vaccine shortage [sec. 2 (C)].
