Vote to pass a bill that exempts from sales tax purchases for construction, reconstruction and remodeling in counties that were declared disaster areas and certain non-profit organizations.

Highlights:

- Exempts from sales tax purchases of tangible goods and services by homeless assistance programs, housing projects for the elderly and low-income families and aid projects for low-income individuals and communities. [Sec. 1 (a)(1)]. - Requires contractors working on construction, reconstruction, and remodeling projects to obtain exemption certificates for the project from the state prior to July 1, 2009 (Sec. 5). - Requires refund claims for sales tax paid on or after a disaster but before this bill takes effect to be submitted to the director of taxation by July 1st, 2009.
