Vote to pass a bill that authorizes utilities to recover, through increases in electric rates, costs incurred by planning the construction of nuclear power facilities.

Highlights:

- Exempts electric generation facilities, additions to electric generation facilities and pollution control devices purchased or constructed for electric generation facilities from all Kansas property taxes during and following construction:for 10 years after construction is completed; for 'peak load' plants, defined as 'an electric facility used during maximum load periods', for 4 years after construction is completed (Sec. 6). - Exempts all electric transmission lines and appurtenances whose construction was completed after December 31, 2000, and the rights-of-way on which such lines are located, from all Kansas property and ad valorem taxes for a period of 10 years after construction is completed (Sec. 7).
