Title: Requiring Licenses for Denturists

Vote to pass a bill that requires persons who manufacture dentures to be licensed by the state.

Highlights:

- Provides that applicants for a denturist's license must have completed at least two years' training in denturitry at an accredited educational institution and at least two years' apprenticeship under the supervision of an licensed denturist, and have certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) [Sec. 6 (1)]. - Provides that any person who engages in the practice of denturitry without a license may receive the following sanctions: - a fine of $1000 and/or not more than 30 days in the county jail for a first offense; - a fine of $2000 and/or not more than 60 days in the county jail for subsequent offenses [Sec. 6 (3)]. - Provides that every day that a person without a license engages in the practice of denturitry constitutes a separate offense [Sec. 6 (3)]. - Provides that a person practicing denturitry prior to the effective date of this bill may obtain a denturist's license if he or she provides: - Three affidavits confirming that the person seeking licensing has practiced denturitry in Kentucky on or before the bill becomes law, from persons who are not family members; - Three affidavits from persons who have received denturitry services from the applicant within one year of the effective date of the bill; - Proof of membership in the Kentucky Denturist Association for at least two consecutive years [Sec. 6 (4)].
