Vote to pass a bill replacing Kentucky's 'Commonwealth Accountability Testing System' (CATS) method of student testing with a system that includes more multiple-choice tests.
Highlights:
- Provides that language arts or English teachers must maintain writing portfolios for every student between Grade 5 and Grade 12, and that the Kentucky Department of Education must audit 20% of Kentucky schools annually for compliance with this provision [Sec. 2 (c)]. - Provides that every school must devise a program of accelerated learning to help all students who have indicated skill deficiencies through their assessed work [Sec. 3 (a)]. - Substitute offered by Senate Education Committee (03/06/2008).
