Title: Penalties for Employers of Undocumented Immigrants

Vote to pass a bill that sets penalties for employers who knowingly employ undocumented immigrants.

Highlights:
- Applies only to employees hired after June 30, 2009 [Ch. 1.5, Sec. 1(a)]. - Provides that an employer who knowingly employs an undocumented immigrant is subject to the following penalties: Suspension of his or her license for not more than ten business days for a first offense; Suspension of his or her license for not more than ten business days for a second offense occurring within ten years of the initial violation; Revocation of his or her license indefinitely or permanently for a third offense occurring within ten years of the initial violation [Ch. 1.5, Secs. 17 (a), 18, 19]. - Provides that a court may take factors such as the number of immigrants employed, the duration of time for which the immigrant or immigrants were knowingly employed, the degree of harm caused by the violations, and any other factors the court considers relevant into consideration when deciding whether to suspend an employer's license [Ch. 1.5, Sec. 17 (b)]. - Exempts an employer from prosecution under this law if the employer had verified the immigration status of the employee through the federal government's pilot program [Ch. 1.5, Sec. 26].
