Title: Voter Identification

Highlights:

- Will accept the following, valid forms of identification: drivers license, identification card issued by the state of Mississippi, US passport, employee identification card, student identification card from a school in Mississippi, license to carry a pistol or revolver, pilot license, US military identification card, official voter registration card [sec. 1 (2)]. - Allows a person without proper identification to vote by affidavit ballot, which will be counted if upon inspection the person is found to be a registered voter [sec. 1 (3)]. - Provides that any person who uses identification requirements to intimidate a voter or to prevent a qualified voter from casting a ballot maybe fined not less than $50,000 and/or imprisoned for between one and five years [sec. 1 (4)]. - Substitute adopted by the Senate Elections Committee on 2/21/08.
