Vote to pass a bill that requires law enforcement officers to test drivers deemed responsible for serious accidents for alcohol and drugs.
Highlights:
-Allows that a law enforcement officer may choose not to administer a test for alcohol and drugs if he has reasonable grounds to believe that the actions of the driver did not contribute to the accident [sec. 1 (b)].
-Allows the law enforcement officer to charge the county where the accident occurred for any costs incurred by performing the test. The county may in turn pass these costs along to the driver [sec. 2 (b)].
